How to Succeed in Your Company's Website Project

Website Redesign

A well-executed website supports your brand, generates leads, and improves your company's visibility in search engines. A responsive, easy-to-use website is also your most important digital channel – the place where customers encounter the content that supports your marketing, sales and customer service.

Six Stages of a Website Project

New Website for Your Company

  1. Strategy. Development plan, division of responsibilities and scheduling.

  2. Design. Content, structure and visual design.

  3. Technical implementation. Building the website, required integrations and technical SEO.

  4. Content. High-quality content production and content entry.

  5. Launch. Client sign-off, testing and go-live.

  6. Development. Ongoing development and maintenance based on visitor data and evolving needs.

A New Website in Under a Month

We have invested a great deal of time in refining our process so that new website projects run as smoothly as possible. We deliver website projects by applying HubSpot's GDD (Growth-Driven Design) methodology. Once one phase is complete, we plan what comes next.

Thanks to our experience-based operating model and our carefully considered development theme, we are able to deliver the first phase of a website project in under a month. The entire project team is fully aware of the opportunities and constraints of the development theme, which shape the design and delivery of the site's first phase.

There Are Many Reasons to Redesign a Website

The three most common reasons for a website redesign are: a fragmented user interface that has grown unwieldy over time, content that has expanded beyond all proportion, and a site that has lost its identity. All of these undermine the visitor experience and cause potential customers to leave before converting.

Redesigns are also often driven by the desire to use the website to support marketing and sales more effectively. In these cases, many companies consider HubSpot, whose pre-integrated tools make the day-to-day work of marketing and sales more efficient. HubSpot's particular strength for SMEs lies in having all website functionality on a single platform.

Sometimes traffic and conversions are simply declining – but the reason isn't clear. In that case, it's worth auditing your current website to identify where development is needed.

Refresh Your Brand by Updating Your Website

Your website needs to support your brand in every way. Its visual design and graphic identity should reflect your brand's look and feel, while the copy reinforces your brand's communication style.

The user experience your website delivers should match the experience of visiting a physical shop or a customer service desk. The goal is to provide visitors with an all-round positive experience that reflects your brand's values and vision.

Even a beautifully crafted website doesn't last forever – visual trends in web design have an undeniable habit of evolving, cycling through phases, fading and returning. Sometimes all that's needed is a visual refresh, if everything else is working as intended.

How We Deliver Your Website Redesign on Time and on Budget

We deliver website redesigns using our own purpose-built website theme. Blink's website theme is a collection of page templates, modules and components from which the site is built. Rather than rebuilding everything from scratch, we use site elements that have been tested in practice and proven to work.

The website theme gives the project a running start, because the groundwork is already done. The visual design is also built entirely from the same elements that are used in the live site itself.

By using pre-built, proven components, we almost entirely skip the laborious test-and-fix cycle that eats up time when trying to get basic things to work across different browsers and operating systems.

Blink's Website Theme Adapts to Every Need

All style settings and modules are fully customisable to suit each client's needs and preferences. That said, we always recommend grounding decisions in real data and existing knowledge about how sites are used — what the established conventions are, how to keep the experience intuitive and accessible, and how the site can best serve the desired goals.

Build on Work Already Done

We have invested a significant amount of effort into building our website theme. Every module has been individually coded, tested and confirmed to work – and now the development theme is available to others too.

Rather than starting from scratch, you step straight onto a moving vehicle and make course corrections along the way, informed by the data you gather as you go. No guessing, no forecasting – just optimising and improving based on evidence. You get to benefit from the work that's already been done.

A Successful Website Redesign Improves Your Company's Revenue

A company website's primary goal is to drive business. Business can be generated in many ways: by nurturing your brand, acquiring new customers, or serving existing ones. Your website is the most important digital touchpoint for your customers – and the place where customer data feeds directly into your CRM.

Your website supports your company's marketing, sales and customer service. Visual choices and copy introduce your brand and its thinking. Carefully selected headings and calls to action capture visitors' interest and guide them towards relevant solutions. Once a visitor is identified, you can offer them a personalised experience. Depending on your audience, the site may also provide customer service through live chat, a knowledge base and contact details.

Your website is also critically important from a business strategy perspective. Site analytics allow you to track visitor volumes, types and traffic patterns – insights that help you refine your target audience and optimise your offering. Analytics can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of different advertising channels and track site conversions: how visitors behave on the site, and how they make purchases or get in touch.

Ongoing Development Based on Your Development Plan and User Data

After the launch, we continue developing the site in stages, guided by the plan made at the outset and by user data gathered from the live site. Phased development minimises errors and the extra work they generate, since even the first version of the site is exposed to real users early on.

Website Platform: HubSpot vs. WordPress

HubSpot's website platform is designed specifically for the seamless integration of marketing, sales, customer service and analytics. You get the most out of a HubSpot website when all the Hubs are in use. For developers and content editors, HubSpot CMS is a reliable, user-friendly tool that simplifies many tasks. Editing the site and adding language versions is straightforward. SEO for content can be refined step by step before pages are published or updated. Comprehensive analytics give you a clear view of cause and effect, so you can focus on improving the most important elements and content.

WordPress is a solid choice for blogging and building websites. It is one of the most widely used website platforms and is completely free to get started with. WordPress offers a broad selection of free and paid themes and plugins for customising the look and adding functionality. It's a good fit if you want to build a blog or a traditional website.

In summary, HubSpot's platform offers a ready-made solution for companies focused on growth, while WordPress requires additional plugins whenever new features are needed.

Website Migration to HubSpot

For us, website migration means transferring the content and functionality of an existing website from another platform to HubSpot. Migration always requires careful planning to ensure that existing content and functionality are preserved and that the visitor experience isn't disrupted. The need for migration most commonly comes from one of three situations – or a combination of them:

  • The website is being updated and there's a desire to start fresh.
  • The existing platform no longer meets the company's needs.
  • HubSpot's other features are already in use, or are being adopted, making HubSpot the natural platform choice.

We carry out migrations primarily using the agile development model described above. Compared to entirely new builds, the first phase of a migration tends to be somewhat larger if a significant portion of the existing content and functionality needs to be brought across from the start.

How Much Does a New Website Cost?

The cost of a website project varies considerably depending on how it is delivered, the features required, the division of work and the timeline. Pricing should account for project management, developing and updating the development plan, visual design, technical implementation, the production of image and text content, SEO, content entry, analytics tracking setup, and testing across the most common operating systems and browsers.

A new site can be got up and running relatively quickly, since it can be launched with a lean content set — though time for content production needs to be factored into the ongoing development. In migrations, the content already exists, but dividing content and functionality across development phases can be challenging if the entire site needs to move to HubSpot in one go.

With the agile development model, the first phase can be launched at considerably lower cost than with a traditional all-at-once approach. Post-launch development is most often billed on a monthly basis. Spreading costs over a longer period is almost always a better option than a large one-off invoice.

We give you the choice of how your site is delivered: as a one-off payment or on a fixed monthly retainer. In the latter case, costs are spread across several months. Either way, you receive your website as a managed service — with a professional team responsible for keeping your site running securely and doing exactly what it should.

We also deliver a wide range of custom website solutions, including calculators, cloud-based applications, mobile applications, and integrations between systems.
