Elektria

Elektria is a network of independent electrical contractors working in partnership with Sonepar Suomi Oy (formerly known as SLO), for whom Sonepar provides products, services and solutions. After decades of operation, the network of 130 electrical shops was outdated in terms of appearance and services.

Concept and identity

With the application of service design methodology, we crafted a collection of compelling business-focused service concepts, devised an online platform benefiting both member stores and end-customers, and established a modern identity for the network, embodying the spirit of innovation and setting Elektria apart from its competitors.

Elektria, a network of independent electrical contractors collaborating with SLO, was in need of a makeover. Its image had grown outdated, the benefits for member companies required modernization, and the services offered to end-customers needed a complete overhaul.

We started the renewal by visiting Elektria stores of different sizes and types around Finland. By interviewing electrical shops about their needs, wishes and challenges, we managed to create an understanding of their everyday life, business and development opportunities. At the same time, we tried to identify potential problems and pain points where the chain could offer support.

Based on the interviews, we developed a number of service ideas that are of business interest. By prioritising these, we worked with the client to create a vision of the most potential development ideas that SLO wanted to implement internally immediately.

The comprehensive rebranding of the network also entailed a refresh of Elektria's identity. While preserving the red color that ties it to SLO, everything else underwent a transformation: from the value proposition and tone of voice to the visual identity and logo. With this overhaul, the new Elektria catapulted into the 21st century, presenting its expertise and know-how in a professional and dependable manner, without any fuss or dust.

The reform began with updates to the Elektria.fi website. Through interviews, surveys, and workshops, a vision for a unified online service for member companies was developed, along with its features and tools. The goal was to provide each business in the network with its own compelling online service immediately and without the need for additional input or expertise. Key business references, crucial for industries like construction, were integrated. Publishing pre-formatted reference presentations by electrical companies required minimal effort but achieved maximum impact with customers. The reform was internally launched to member companies, receiving a positive and enthusiastic reception.
